Andrew P Sandham, BSc DipM
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Mr Sandham has 30 years experience in business development and marketing within the healthcare sector. He has played a key role in building successful businesses in pharmaceutical discovery and development in Europe and the USA, serving as a founder and executive of Cantab Pharmaceuticals, Hexagen, Signature BioScience and Ionix Pharmaceuticals.
Mr Sandham is also non-executive chairman of Bicycle Therapeutics and a non-executive director of Plant Bioscience Ltd. He has also served as non-executive chairman of Syntaxin, NeurAxon and Novacta Biosystems, non-executive director of Synosia and was a venture partner with Abingworth LLP. Mr Sandham holds a BSc in chemistry from UEA, Norwich and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.
Allan Bradley, PhD FRS
Founder and Consultant
Professor Bradley completed his PhD studies in genetics at the University of Cambridge in 1984. In 1987 Dr Bradley moved to Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas and in 1993 became an Investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His laboratory has developed novel methods to engineer the genomes of mice.
Dr Bradley is the author of over 200 scientific articles and book chapters. He has been active in commercialising technology from his laboratory by founding several companies including a publicly traded genomics company, Lexicon Genetics Inc. In November 2000, Dr Bradley took up an appointment as Director of the Sanger Institute. In July 2002 he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society. In 2010 he was appointed Emeritus Director of the Sanger Institute, allowing time to support Kymab's research.
Timothy J Rink, PhD
Dr Rink is a former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Biosciences Corporation, a drug discovery technology company in San Diego, California. He is currently a board member of Santhera Pharmaceutical and serves on the scientific advisory board of Amylin Pharmaceuticals, and as chair of the technology transfer strategy panel of the Wellcome Trust. Over the past 16 years, Dr Rink has also served on the boards of Adnexus Therapeutics, Alanex, Ciphergen, CoCensys , Gryphon Sciences, NPS and Sepracor in the USA, and AkuBio, Astex Therapeutics, BioVex and Lorantis in the UK and on the scientific advisory board of Serono AG. Dr Rink was President and Chief Technical Officer of Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. from 1990 to 1995, and was Vice-President for Research at SmithKline from 1984 to 1989. Prior to this he was a lecturer in physiology at the University of Cambridge. He received his MA, MD and ScD degrees from the University of Cambridge.
Edward Walker- Arnott, LLM
Mr Walker-Arnott gained extensive experience as a commercial lawyer at the international law firm Herbert Smith, where he was Senior Partner and is currently a consultant. He has served as a non-executive director of two listed companies in the manufacturing and insurance industries. He was a member of the departmental committee (the Cork Committee) that reviewed insolvency law and whose recommendations are enshrined in the current law. He was one of the first three outsiders (nominated by the Bank of England) to sit on the governing body of the Lloyds insurance market. From 2003 to 2004 he sat on the small advisory group assisting Sir David Clementi in his review of the regulatory framework for legal services, implemented as the Legal Services Act 2007. He has served as on the Board of Governors of The Wellcome Trust since 2000 and is a Visiting Professor at University College London, where he teaches company law.
Genny Kiff, BSc MSc CA
Ms Kiff has worked at Wellcome Trust for 11 years and is Head of Financial Planning and Reporting. Her responsibilities include financial reporting to the Board, investment accounting and business financial services for the development of new legal entities. She has served as a Director for Hinxton Hall Limited, Wellcome Trust Finance plc, Wellcome Trust Investment Partnership and Wellcome Trust Trading Limited. Prior to joining the Wellcome Trust she worked at Ernst and Young in New Zealand where she qualified as a chartered accountant with major clients being AMP, Mallinckrodt, Toyota and TransAlta. Prior to Ernst and Young she was a research scientist with GEC Hirst Research Centre (London).
